Biography
Md. Maruf Hossain Shuvo is a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The University of Texas at El Paso. His research interests include machine learning, biomedical signal and image analysis, integrated circuit design, deep learning, edge intelligence, and biomedical electronics. Previously, he served as a Lecturer and Assistant Professor in the Electronics and Communication Engineering Department at Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET), Bangladesh, from 2015 to 2019. Dr. Shuvo was the recipient of the University Gold Medal from KUET, the Prime Minister's Gold Medal from the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh, and the Outstanding Ph.D. Student Award from the College of Engineering, University of Missouri.

Ph.D. Research Associate
Md Rifatul Islam is a doctoral student in the Electrical and Computer Engineering program, starting in Spring 2025. He completed a B.Sc. degree in Mechatronics and Industrial Engineering from Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET), Bangladesh, in 2022. His research interests include applied machine learning, medical image analysis, multimodal language model, trustworthy AI, and edge AI for developing intelligent biomedical solutions.
Ph.D. Teaching Assistant
Samiul Bari is a doctoral student in the Electrical and Computer Engineering program, starting in Fall 2025. He completed a B.Sc. degree in Biomedical Engineering from Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST), Bangladesh, in 2024. His research interests include neuromorphic computing, efficient AI, embedded AI, digital twins for healthcare, and medical devices.
Ph.D. Research Associate
Fariza Siddiqua is a doctoral student in the Electrical and Computer Engineering program, starting in Fall 2025. She completed a B.Sc. degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Bangladesh, in 2023. Her research interests include deep learning model compression, generative AI on edge, AI hardware, and LLM hardware acceleration.
Ruben J Rivera, is a senior undergraduate student in the Computer Engineering program. He previously completed an Associate’s degree in Multidisciplinary Studies at El Paso Community College (EPCC). His research interests include machine learning, medical image analysis, and edge AI.
Ismael A Luna, is an undergraduate student in the Electrical Engineering program. His research interests include deep learning, embedded systems, and TinyML.

Alexis Castro, is an undergraduate student in the Electrical Engineering program. He has a strong foundation in embedded systems, circuit design, and signal processing, with hands-on experience using microcontrollers and peripherals. His research interests include machine learning, embedded AI, and AI hardware.
